The degree Course of B.H.M.S. (Degree) shall comprise a Course of study consisting of Curriculum and Syllabus provided in these regulations spread over a period of 51/2 years, including compulsory internship of one year duration after passing the Final Degree Examination. Every candidate after passing the final BHMS examination, shall undergo compulsory internship for a period of twelve months as per the procedure laid down Central Council Homoeopathy, Delhi.

On successful completion of the Internship and on the recommendation of the Principal of the Homeopathic College concerned, the concerned Maharashtra University of Health Sciences, Nashik shall issue the Degree to the candidates.

2. Registration Procedure

• Advertisement : The Maharashtra University of Health Sciences, Nashik will publish a Notification in month of July \August, for Registration to Ph.D. and will invite applications from eligible candidates.

Duration : 2 to 3 year depends on Thesis gets approved by the Maharashtra University Of Health Sciences, Nashik .

Eligibility :

• Should hold Postgraduate Qualification (P.G. Degree) in the concerned subject of Health Sciences.
• Applications for research in inter-disciplinary areas and from applicants belonging to a faculty or subject other than faculty or subject in which the research is proposed to be done and from the International students (those who have not obtained the PG degree from Indian University for whom the equivalency of degree as per respective council will be necessary) shall be considered on the basis of the proven ability and aptitude of the researcher for such kind of research. The admission will be confirmed after the Board of Research concerned approves the topic.
• For Teacher candidates, No objection Certificate, from Head of Institute will be mandatory at the time of application. Only fulltime regular approved teacher of Maharashtra University of Health Sciences, Nashik will be treated as teacher for benefit of provisions under Section - 17(c). For remaining, this course will be full time and regular course.
• In exceptional cases, the candidates holding graduate qualification in Health sciences, with proven ability and fifteen years professional experience can be considered as eligible for Ph.D degree course registration, on the recommendation of concerned board of research.

Admission Procedure :

• Advertisement : The University Cell constituted as per section 4, will publish a Notification in month of July \ August every year, for admission to Ph.D. degree course under all faculties of Health Sciences and calls applications from eligible candidates. This Notification will contain Number of seats available for registration (faculty wise, centre wise & subject wise distribution of seats, along with list of recognized guides) application form and general rules regarding admission procedure. The rules regarding reservation as specified by State Government will be incorporated in notification. This Notification will be published at University website along with one national and one state level news paper.
• Entrance Test : The University Cell will organize a written test in the month of July \ August. The syllabus of this test and format of question paper and other details, will be decided by a committee appointed by Vice- Chancellor amongst the members of the Board of Research of each faculty.
• Interview : Within 07 days from the date of entrance test the merit list will be displayed by the University and on a fixed day but within 15 days from the date of examination the personal interview of successful candidates will be organized at the University. This interview will be carried out by a committee appointed by the Vice - Chancellor amongst the members of the Board of Research. In this interview more emphasis will be given on research interest/area of candidate and choice of the centre and guide.
• Allotment : After successful interview the committee will allot guide/supervisor and centre to the candidate as per choice of candidate but strictly on merit, in the form of written allotment letter. The copy of this letter will be forwarded to the Head of the Research Centre and guide/supervisor. The letter of allotment will specify the date of registration and the tentative date of completion. If the candidate failed to complete his work in stipulated time period due to any reason, in such cases he/she will be liable to pay extra fees as prescribed.

Registration :
After obtaining allotment letter the selected candidate should report at place of work (allotted centre) within 07 days and afterward fulfils the remaining registration procedure at centre. 10 copies of outline of research along with one soft copy and application in prescribed format along with Demand Draft for prescribed fees, for the registration for Ph.D course shall be recommended by research guide and forwarded through Head of the Department and Head of the Institution from the candidate shall be submitted to the University, within ninety days from date of allotment. Topic should be approved by research committee and ethics committee of College where research is to be undertaken and certificate in this regard should be submitted within six months. Once the University has confirmed final registration of the student for the particular topic, after three months no change in the topic shall be allowed, without prior permission of Board of Research.

Course Fees :

A candidate doing research leading to the Ph. D. degree must have worked for a minimum period of 02 years, and in the normal course, he/she will not be allowed to submit his/her thesis before completing two years from the date of his/her allotment as a research student. The minimum period for Candidates who possess Post graduate qualification in concerned subject, will be 2 years and for candidates with M.Sc. (Medical Subjects), and all other including Interdisciplinary candidates will be minimum 3 years from the date of allotment.

In case the candidate is not able to complete his/her research work within a maximum period of 06 years, on the request of the candidate through the research guide, which should be six month prior to expiry date the Board of Research may grant extension of time not more than further 02 years. In such a case, the candidate shall be required to pay the tuition fees again. After expiry of this grace period the registration of candidate will be automatically get cancelled and afterward he\she may register again as a fresh candidate after following full procedure mentioned above at sr.no.14.

Course Work :

• After registration and within six months from the date of registration, each and every candidate registered for Ph.D. Course has to complete a Pre- Ph.D. orientation course of 1 week duration at a place recognized and declared by University from time to time as an authorised centre. Under this course an update on knowledge regarding research methodology & biostatistics will be provided to candidates.
• After completion of research, the candidate will prepare a draft thesis, and present the same before Departmental research committee, at place of work. The feedbacks and comments given by member should be incorporated in Final Thesis
• Each and every candidate shall publish one research paper or submit the evidence of acceptance of paper, related to his work in a recognized journal before submission of Final thesis to University.
• The student will send six monthly progress reports through the guide and Head of the institute in prescribed format to University.
